Affiliate Disclosure

How this site is supported, explained honestly — because you deserve to know before you click.

The honest version

New Nest Essentials is free to read, and running it costs time and money. To support that work, this site may contain affiliate links. If you click one of those links and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go to the retailer directly.

What that means in practice

  • You never pay more. Commissions come out of the retailer’s side, not yours.
  • Links don’t buy placement. A product earns its slot in a guide on merit — the affiliate link comes after the recommendation, never before it.
  • We say so up front. Where a page or post contains affiliate links, we aim to make that clear rather than bury it.

How we choose what to recommend

Every recommendation starts with the question “would this actually help someone furnishing a first place?” We research the category, compare real specifications, and weigh durability, size, and value for a first home. When we haven’t found a product we’re confident in, we’d rather leave the slot marked “coming soon” than fill it with a guess — commission or not.

Why we disclose

Beyond it being the right thing to do, disclosure of material connections between a publisher and a retailer is required by the US Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guides. This page — along with disclosures near the links themselves — is how we honor that.
